Singapore - How can you set up your own business, without worrying about the business concept, marketing plans, product
quality, branding and millions of other items that entrepreneurs lose sleep over?
The answer is through franchising.
The cream of the crop amongst Singapore and international franchisors and franchisees were announced today by the Franchising & Licensing Association Singapore (FLA Singapore).
Mr Nallakaruppan, who owns five Singapore-based 7-Eleven convenience stores, was named the inaugural Franchisee of the Year Award winner. V-KOOL International won the 2008 Franchisor of the Year Award, which rewards the most thriving franchising business in Singapore. Waraku International took home the 2008 Promising Franchisor of the Year Award, which recognises the most promising home-grown franchisor that has the most promise to succeed. And Inner Mongolia Little Sheep Catering Chain from China triumphed with the 2008 International Franchisor of the Year Award, which honours franchisors that have excelled in their own countries.
"Our FLA Award has now cemented itself as the most prestigious award in franchising industry. The fact that we have past FLA Award winners coming back again this year, vying for the same award is a clear testimonial of its benefits in boosting companies franchising business. With Singapore's franchising industry becoming more mature, FLA decided to give some focus on the franchisees, who play an integral role in ensuring the success of any franchise. I am very pleased to see our inaugural Franchisee of the Year winner, Mr Nallakaruppan from 7-Eleven. I offer my heartiest congratulations to him and our other 3 FLA Award winners - V-KOOL International, Waraku International and Little Sheep," said Mr Douglas Foo, Chairman FLA Singapore.The winners of the FLA Award 2008 will receive their awards from Mr Douglas Foo, Chairman FLA Singapore, at the FLA Award Gala Dinner, held on 17 October 2008. Through winning these awards, Mr Nallakaruppan, V-KOOL, Waraku and Little Sheep are now recognised as leaders within the franchising industry. This will facilitate their future franchising plans, in both local and international markets.
