kame写的好像是Happy Xmas少个撇＝＝＝＝＝Xmas是聖誕節英文Christmas的代寫並非縮寫。它翻譯自希臘語的ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ，(音譯為：Christos，基督)。新約聖經是用希臘語寫成的。
Xmas的首字母X代表了希臘字母Χ，這是基督的希臘名字的首字母。可是，因為現代字母X的承繼，很多人不經意地以為這種縮寫是將Christmas之中的「Chris」去掉。也有些人誤以為X是代表基督的十字架，其實只有聖安德魯的十字是X型的，基督的十字是型如T或有長尾巴的+號。
古代基督教標誌χ和χρ（Chi Ro——希臘語基督徒的首兩個字母）是基督名字的縮寫。在很多新約原稿中，基督(Xristos)縮寫為X。牛津英語字典里這種縮略用法可以追溯到1551年，這比英國殖民美洲早50年、比欽定聖經的完成早60年。同時，Xian和Xianity也是基督徒和基督教的縮寫（不及Xmas使用普遍）。
這種縮寫使用廣泛, 但並非所有人都接受；一些人認為這貶低了耶穌的身份。
在東亞地區（臺灣、日本、東南亞），由於以訛傳訛經常有人將此縮寫誤寫成「X'mas」，但是實際上這個縮寫加上撇號反而是錯的。
