The european football championship is beginning, one I have been looking forward to almost immediately since we have fallen out of division of world championship 2006. Then we have been fighting for it for 14 months, counting victories, points and losses. I am unfortunately one of the losses. After my injury I can not put on my sports dress. I can only put my cratches under the table and help comment the first match in Basel on TV. It will soon change, but not this month, when is EURO 2008.
?Football, is giving joy, but is also this cruel. But now it is not about me.
I have had only a little bit more luck than most, so now I remain in England, because there I have some work in Arsenal. But even the greatest and most cold professionals are taken by the wonderful community that exists on such championships. People are putting on our sports desses, painting themselves with “war colours“, taking flags, travelling great distances, being with us under pressure, in euphory and in sadness.And after that they reminisce and are looking forward to doing all that again. There can be 23 players on the list of players. But nowhere is written how many hearts can be written under the line. I give mine as the first one and I ask everyone, who likes czech football, to put theirs to mine, like I was above the line. Boys need that.
I promise you that I will return that favor, when I will play football again.
