I was lucky enough to go on opening day! Please bear in mind that I am not a native Japanese speaker and it was very difficult for me to hear what Ueda was saying sometimes because of the audience or he mumbled into the mic. I will add and edit once I'm not so tired!!

Highlights:

- Guest: Nakamaru Yuichi
- New songs included one about being hungry, yankees, Okinawa and one song in English.
- He broke through 5 cement tiles with his bare fist!
- There were hilarious CMs to get you to buy the goods.
- Of course he was bare foot the whole show.
- S&M Ueda?? Shirtless boxing Ueda???


I got there around 1:30 and still had to stand in line for an hour in the sun D: But the good thing was that we could hear Ueda rehearsing from the outside! Everything but the fan could have been bought outside so you don't need to have a ticket, but once in side there were separate lines for people who just wanted the fan. Also inside, there was a cardboard cut out where you can stick your head in and take a picture. Once in a while, a special clip played that talked about the goods. It revealed which mascots were Tat-chan's "helpers" a.k.a. KAT-TUN.


The show lasted almost two hours since Ueda came out for 2 encores.

The crowd was getting excited at the lights dimmed, but we didn't know if we should stand or not. So everyone stayed seated... He opened with his more upbeat solo songs, Sparking and LOST wearing his outfit from Yorokobi no Uta. He performed all 6 of his solo songs and 7 new ones. Since Ueda didn't announce all of the titles of his songs, I can't tell you the official titles until someone releases a set list.

One song was about being hungry and listed all the foods he likes to eat. Around the whole theater, pictures of mice and food twirled around. He had women dancers trying to get the energy up and they had very cute outfits on. Another new song was about yankees (kind of like delinquents in school) and the girls had a flag like Ueda started a gang. There was a part where you can take out your fans and wave along. One special song Ueda had written a ballad about his time living in Okinawa. One of the guitarist learned the shamisen just for this song.?

So for the "S&M" sequence: The dancers came out first wearing white and gold harem dresses. Ueda then appeared on stage wearing an outfit that could have been from Final Fantasy and a shiny whip. The song for this was completely in English, BUT it was very difficult to hear the words. I could only make out: "You can run but you can't hide" from my love (the last part most likely isn't right). During the dance portion the stage was lit red and he was cracking the whip at the girls who were very submissive and worshiped him.

Because Ueda had to change there were a lot of interesting in between segments to kill time. One had his dancers come out like they were windup porcelain dolls dressed up like they were in the Victorian actor. A voice came on saying that he was Mihail, the phantom who haunted Johnny's Theater. He then told us a story about Ueda and France and suddenly the light came on and he was flying above the audience. When he got down he performed Le Ciel mainly focusing on the French Lyrics.

Other times the band placed for a bit or they would play a CM for the goods. These were so funny! One was to buy the mascots: A foreign woman was in her apartment and it looks like a horrible storm was brewing out side. As she goes to close the window it seems like one of her porcelain dolls was following her. No matter where she went the doll was there. Then the phone rang and on the other end was this horrible noise (imagine The Grudge). She screamed and dropped the phone, but then there was a crash in the other room. The woman goes to check it out and the place is a mess. Suddenly a cartoon of one of the mascots popped out. Buy the mascots, collect all 12....

The other two CMs were like horror stories too, but the beginning was the same with a different ending: A girl is walking alone in her school. She had left something in her desk that she was going back to get. She goes and retrieves a hand mirror. Sighing in relief, she peers into it when... a masked man with an ax appears behind her. She screams and narrowly dodged being hacked in half by the ax. She runs away screaming down the hall. The killer goes after her. Ending 1: The killer keeps chasing her, but gets tired and out of breath. So he sits down and fans himself with the concert fan (Buy the fan!). Ending 2: The killer keeps chasing the girl, but falls on his face getting a nosebleed. Right on the floor, a box of Ueda's tissues (Buy the tissues!)?

Whole show wasn't all about singing. In one dance portion, Ueda danced while fire and water burst from the stage. Later he popped out shirtless for his boxing bit. He also had the girls chained to his belt while he hit them around. Then red cloth feel from the ceiling and somehow he "died" and then came back to life. Then he went and broke the titles with his fist.?


During the MC, Ueda announced that Nakamaru came today! He invited him on to the stage. Nakamaru shows up wearing a grey long sleeved shirt with black stripes across the chest, a dark colored hat with a pink stripe, jeans and his favorite black boots. They start talking and Nakamaru asked him wasn't it dirty not wearing shoes. Ueda replied that he had the staff clean beforehand. The Nakamaru noticed the Husband/Wife mascots dangling from Ueda's mic. He liked them so Ueda said he will give him one. But he would not give one to us :P Previously, Ueda asked who had gotten the Husband/Wife pair and not many people in the audience said yes.

After the last song, Ai no Hana, Ueda left the stage and immediately the girls start chanting his name. He came out pretty quickly and the first thing he asked was why we were all just sitting during the concert. Everyone went "EH???". Well we really didn't know! So then he went and performed the yankee song again and got us all on our feet. Then he introduced to all the dancers and the band again.

The second encore, I'm not sure if he was expecting it or not, but no one wanted to leave. So he came out with a megaphone and chatted with us a bit. This time he told us to sit down (some people were leaving). He then teased us by saying that he wasn't going to sing for us, but then said he would :P He got the band back out and sang the food song again. Afterward, he ushered everyone off stage and that was the end.

Throughout the whole show, Ueda kept saying how nervous he was and kept thanking us for coming. He really worked hard and it showed!?

Tips for those who are going:
- Looking for tickets? tickets.co.jp is where I usually get my tickets if I don't hit for the ballot.?
- Best seats? All the seats are good because the theater is small. But Block C, D, E are right in the middle.?
- Get there early. Odaiba is a fun place to hang out anyway.
- You can bring snacks and food into the theater.
- Whatever time they say the gates open, get there at least 20 minutes earlier just to hang out in the lobby of the theater.
- There is a separate line if you just want the fan (sensu). If any of the workers comes up to you and tells you this is a line just for the fan (sensu dake) just nod yes. Expect to be yelled at anyway...
- Yes, they check your bag, but not carefully. They just ask you if you have a camera. Lie. But don't then take out your camera once inside. The theater is small and security was everywhere.
